Between Death & Birth, Traces, Year of Listening

Two Labs, Spells & Incantations for Birth, Death & Rebirth – a somatic practice & fiction creation lab led by Sara Fakhry Ismail and Halim Ramses in Cairo, and Through Understanding in the Between led by Dina Mohamed in Amsterdam, nourished the bones of Between Death& Birth, the December moment in the DOTE year of listening. Works created in the Labs were woven into the performative events in both cities. Images, prose, performance, poetry, and spells ‘travelled’ between Cairo to Amsterdam. So, outcomes from one were translated, given as instructions, photographed, sent to, installed and shared in the other as a strategy of personal and artistic resonance between ‘multiple’ centres.

Dancing on the Edge

Dancing on the Edge is an artistic platform that moves between different borders, bodies, disciplines, histories and (pre)conceptions. In its working processes and programming, it attempts to challenge singular narratives and identities in representation as well as dominant power structures and (post)colonial relations.
